King Salmon
June 15 – July 10
Western Alaska, Arctic Alaska Region

Traditionally, the Arctic region of Alaska produces some of the earliest King salmon of the season. These fish have a high fat content and excellent meat color. This production begins around June 15. The King salmon from here rivals anything out of Copper River. Short openings, 100% iced boats and immediate processing makes these king salmon absolutely outstanding. We size grade at 7/11 lbs, 11/18 and 18/up. The majority of the fish average about 12 to 13 lbs. H & G.

This early production area is finished with King salmon by the tenth of July.

June 15 – July 5
Western Alaska, Yukon River

These King salmon are the best king salmon produced in the world. The oil content exceeds 20% and the fish average 23 pounds in the round. Traditionally, 100% of these fish are shipped to Japan. Boreal Fisheries has allocated 300,000 pounds for the domestic market this year. You are familiar with the Copper River king salmon, the Yukon fish are bigger and fatter, making their flavor and recovery into fillets more appealing to the domestic market.
